The product claims to keep your beverage warm for approximately one hour all day
We put the ceramic mug and the new travel mug to the test to see if the claim was true.Ember has successfully created a line of products that are fantastic at retaining heat. On the novelty side, both the ceramic mug and travel mug are perfect for those who are guilty of abandoning their teas and coffees. These are also ideal for professionals who find themselves in daily commutes and desk-orientated jobs. The travel mug features a 360-degree leak-proof lid which is brilliant if you're worried about spillage.
Ember is easy to use, you download the free Ember app onto your iOS or Android device and pair your mug, or travel cup, via Bluetooth
The app allows you to set your perfect temperature for your beverage and sends you a notification when it is ready to drink. What really impressed us was Ember's pre-programmed database of the most popular teas and coffees and their ideal temperatures.
An added bonus is that Ember's recent partnership with the Apple Health app allows you to track your caffeine consumption and set maximum limits for the day. Both products have a high capacity. You can fit 295ml in the mug and 355ml for the travel cup. However, we found they became very heavy when filled to this point.
On the outside, Ember looks like an everyday cup, but don't let the minimalist design fool you
Boasting the title of the "world's first temperature control" mug and travel cup, both designs are packed with comprehensive thermal technology designed to keep your beverage warm from start to finish. We found this feature works best with herbal tea as it optimises the flavours. A new mug and travel cup from Ember uses temperature control to keep your cuppa at the ideal temperature.
Even though these products are not dishwasher safe, washing them by hand is a breeze!
Overall, Ember offers some clever innovation, but this comes at a steep price! The ceramic mug costs 79.95 and the travel cup is priced at 159.95. These products may not be everyone's cup of tea! While a hefty investment, they would suit keen tea drinkers and those with a long commute. It becomes a vicious cycle, as we pour the remains down the kitchen sink and hit the switch on the kettle ready for the next one.
